Hormonal Causes of Anxiety:

🔽 Low progesterone: Anxiety, Anxiety, Anxiety, belly fat, moody & or aggro, sleep issues, Excess Estrogen, itchy skin, headaches and migraines etc etc…

Women in perimenopause and menopause with hot flushes and night sweats are more likely to develop anxiety, more fears, decreased memory and concentration, poor sleep, and somatic complaints (like muscle pain) when they are experiencing symptoms of low estrogen and low progesterone.

Poor sleep can then exacerbate other hormonal problems, such as dysregulated cortisol and insulin resistance.

Evaluation of anxiety and depression during the menopausal transition is tricky because of the overlap between symptoms of anxiety and depression and symptoms of menopause and thyroid and cortisol issues.
